Missedly

Privacy Notice for Callers

Effective 5 August 2026

Who this is about

Missedly, operated by Zuyao Zhang, provides software that answers missed calls for local home-service businesses. When someone calls one of those businesses and the call isn't answered, our software sends a text back on that business's behalf, has a short conversation about what's needed, and passes the details to the business owner.

There are two parties here, and it matters which is which. The business you called — the plumber, the heating company — decides why they collect your information and what they do with it. We run the software that handles it for them. If you want your information changed or removed, you can ask either of us and we will act on it.

What we handle

Only what a caller provides, plus what the phone network tells us about the call:

InformationWhy
Your phone numberTo text you back after the missed call, and to keep your conversation together
Your name, if you give itSo the business knows who to expect and what to call you
Your service address, if you give itSo somebody can come to the right place
What needs fixing, and when you are availableSo the right work is booked at a time you have agreed to
The text conversation itselfSo the business can see exactly what was said, rather than a summary
Whether the call was answered, and whenTo know whether to text at all

We do not ask for, and the service has no use for, payment details, government identifiers, or health information. Please don't send them by text.

Text messages

The first message you receive tells you who it is from and how to stop it. You can reply STOP at any time and we will not text you again from that number. That takes effect immediately.

Changed your mind? Reply START and the texts resume. You can stop and start as often as you like, and neither costs you anything beyond your own carrier's rates.

We keep a record that you asked us to stop, and we keep it even if you later ask us to delete everything else we hold about you. That record is the only thing that guarantees we do not text you again by mistake — it holds your number and the fact that you opted out, and nothing about your conversation. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

We only ever text a number that has called the business first. We do not run marketing campaigns, we do not send bulk messages, and we do not use purchased lists.

Automated conversation

The reply you receive is written by an automated assistant, not a person, and it says so if you ask. A member of the business can take over the conversation at any point, and does when the question needs a human. The assistant proposes appointment times for the business to confirm; it does not quote prices, and it does not dispatch anyone by itself.

If a caller mentions something dangerous — gas, smoke, fire, flooding — the reply tells them to call 911 or their utility's emergency line before anything else.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of established providers to run the service. Each one only handles what it needs to:

Beyond those, the only people who see a caller's details are the business that was called. We do not sell information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long it's kept

Conversations and captured job details are deleted automatically 180 days after your last contact, unless the business has chosen a shorter period. The same clock covers the alerts we sent the business about you and any past appointment in their calendar, so nothing quietly outlives the conversation it came from.

A business can delete an individual caller's records at any time, and does so on request.

The one exception is a STOP request, which is kept indefinitely — see above for why.

How it's protected

No system is perfect, and we won't pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will say so.

Your choices

Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your information. Tell us what you'd like and we will treat it as a request under whichever law applies to you.

Children

This service is for arranging work at a property and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, where we can, tell the businesses who use the service so they can tell their customers.
